The Dragons run district programmes and skill centres from U12s through to U15s. Information on and details of these can be found on the Community section of the website.
From the U15s School Districts the Academy staff select a squad of approximately 55 players to form a Dragons U16s squad which will follow a season long development programme. The players in the squad will either enter the Regional U16s competition playing against the Ospreys, Scarlets, North Wales, Blues South and Blues North or will play as a development squad that enters the second tier District competition. The development squad train alongside the regional squad and follow the same development programme, often accommodating the players born later in the year and thus acts as an effective late developer initiative. The squads train twice a week through the summer and once the regional competition begins the fixtures are on a Wednesday with training on a Monday.
From the squad a select group of early developers are additionally invited to begin a physical development programme with the Academy Strength and Conditioning Coach, whereby sessions take place twice a week after school.
