The Newport Gwent Dragons will look back on what has been another roller coaster season in the Magners League, EDF and Heineken Cup and look forward to an equally dramatic, and hopefully more competitive, run throughout 2008/9.

In the Magners League, a perfect start to the season and New Year mirrored the tremendous end that allowed automatic qualification into the Heineken Cup for next season, with the Dragons finishing only narrowly behind neighbouring regions the Ospreys and Llanelli Scarlets.

On New Years Day of 2008, Dragons and Dragons fans celebrated a season double over Llanelli Scarlets at Rodney Parade to follow the Stradey Park victory that kick-started the season.

The Dragons closed the season with back-to-back victories against the Magners League Champions Leinster and EDF Champions Ospreys at Rodney Parade.

Yet, for all the Dragons fans that followed the entire season, these highs were balanced by the lows in a largely frustrating season overall for Head Coach Paul Turner and the team.

Nevertheless, it was not just the taste of four tries and the fastest bonus point of the season, against a Leinster team who had thrashed them the week before to clinch the Magners League title, that proved celebratory times for the Dragons throughout 2007/8.

Newport Gwent Dragons Adam Black and Andy Hall became the first two players in Celtic League history to reach 100th league appearances (respectively) when just seven days before Andy Hall received this honour against Leinster, Dragons prop Adam Black got the better of his team-mate against Ospreys at Liberty Stadium in the Magners League.

Adam Black also became the first player to reach 100 caps for the region in 2007, leaving Jamie Ringer hanging in there with 99 Dragons caps until next season, while new squad member Jason Tovey proved a great Dragons prospect following an eye-catching debut at fly half against the Ospreys at Liberty Stadium.
