About Us

Newport Gwent Dragons were founded in 2003 following the regionalisation of the professional game in Wales. The Dragons region embraces all the clubs within Monmouthshire, Caerphilly, Blaenau Gwent and Newport.

The Newport Gwent Dragons are one of four professional rugby regions established by the Welsh Rugby Union in 2003, representing the South-East Wales area in Wales. Based at Rodney Parade, Newport, the Dragons lair welcomes the RaboDirect PRO12 League, LV= Cup and the Amlin Challenge Cup competitions, regularly competing against high calibre teams such as Heineken Cup Winners Leinster and Munster.

The Dragons are supported by main shirt sponsors Discount Tyres and are proud of a youthful squad boosted by a number of Welsh International Squad members.
