The Dragons Under 18’s recorded their first regional championship victory of the season
The Dragons Under 18’s recorded their first regional championship victory of the season against a very competitive RGC1404 side.
The game which was played at Bettws RFC started at a frenetic pace and the young Dragons came out trying to play a fast open game in what was challenging weather conditions, Dan Goode opened the scoring with a try after some great inter play between forwards and backs, Naill Martin converted and the Dragons were leading 7 – 0 after 3 minutes. Constant pressure lead to a line out close to the line and a tap back lead to hooker Elliot Dee driving over from short range.
A further penalty from Martin made the score 15 – 0 at half time. With a strong wind in their favour RGC came out fighting in the second half but resilient defence saw the Dragons hold out, and even sore a try 5 minutes from time to make the final score 20 – 0 to the dragons.
We would like to acknowledge our gratitude to all members and staff of Bettws RFC for hosting the fixture at such short notice.
The Dragons next game is against the Scarlets on the 28th of this month.
